My doctor said no surgery...?!

Question: My doctor said no surgery!.!.!.!?
My knee really hurts!. I have had x-rays and an MRI but my surgeon said that there is nothing she can do!. She told me to go back to my physical therapist!. BUT, i have been doing physical therapy for months and it is NOT working!. At this point i want surgery to fix it, which sounds weird, but it hurts ALL THE TIME!! If i have surgery, i know my knee will get much worse before it gets better, but in hte long run i would be better off!.
Here are my symptoms:

swelling, even when sitting
throbbing pains when sitting
shooting pains from knee to hip and knee to foot while walking
feels unstable

This all happened after I landed wrong in a leap at dance!. (I dance about 14 hours a week)!.

But, my surgeon said that there is nothing wrong with it!. I'm going in for a second opinion on my knee (by a different surgeon)!. Has anyone else had this!? What should I do!?

On a scale of 1 to 10, I would rate my knee at an 8!. And it is not an ACL or a MCL tear!.

Thank you!!

oh and i have been doing my physical therapy with out fail, and my hip is weak, but my pt and my doc are sure that it is not the issueWww@Answer-Health@Com

Answers:
Try a 2nd opinion!. Really the last thing you want to do is surgery!. You open yourself up to more potential problems (infection, non-healing, lengthy healing) which can last for years!. You may have soft tissue damage or ligament damage which can not be seen on X-rays or MRIs!. Another possible test to do is a bone scan (scans the bones for mirco fractures) especially if you knee is unstable!.
No more dancing until your knee heals!. Keep the weight off it as much as possible (crutches)!. When sitting keep you leg elevated on pillows!. Ice packs can help the swelling!. Www@Answer-Health@Com

Ok you need a second opinion because if the MRI didint show anyhing well there may not be that much damge just a simple ligament tear that will not heal, but there may allso be an infection of sinovial fluid in the knee which would explain shoting pains and swelling but this is not very common to be honest it sounds alot like severe ligament damge remember ligaments if you tear enough of them can take a few months to a year to heal good luck!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Yes, please get a second opinion!. Obviously something is not Right, and you need a doctor that will investigate it until they find something that is wrong!. Hope your knee gets to feeling better!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
