Severe ear pain, what's wrong?!

Question: Severe ear pain, what's wrong!?
About two weeks ago I went to the doctor to find the suspicious cause of the severe pain in my ear!.

The doctor said that my ear was simply overrun with ear wax and I had the bulk of it removed with a water tool!.

Then after having my ears cleaned I was on a medicine regimen of antibiotics and pain killers which seemed to work but then I soon felt the same pains in my ear!.

My parent suggested that I needed a stronger antibiotic which again seemed to help temporarily!.

After about 4 days I feel pain to the same magnitude if not more!. The best description I can give of the pain is an extreme feeling of pressure with throbbing and itching and irritation!.

The pain is so severe that I can't go to sleep in a normal position and when I wake up I'm in excruciating pain!. In addition, I can't even move or tilt my head in certain directions and I'm almost to the point of tears!.

Can someone who actually knows what they're talking recommend something for the pain and give me some clue as to what's affecting me!?

I'm in a lot of pain and very scared so please only answer if you know what you're talking about!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Oh Honey!! I'm so sorry you're going through this!

I used to have reoccurring ear infections until my tonsils were taken out!. Now I get ear infections about once 1-2 years but they are always severe!. I used to just sit and rock back and forth crying but now!.!.!.this is what I do!.!.!.(after I call to make an appt with a doctor but you've kind of already covered that although you need to call them again)!.!.!.Anyways!.!.

What I do is this: (It really does help if you do all of these things repeatedly!.!.!.)

1) Get a wash cloth and drench it in really warm water (not scolding hot!.!.make sure it isn't going to burn you but you don't want it cool either)
2) Sit down and tilt your head to the side!. Make sure the ear that is hurting is facing the floor (This way if there is drainage it will flow out and the water from the wash cloth isn't dripping into your ear)
3) Gently press the wash cloth over your ear and hold it there!. The moment you feel it getting cool, drench it in warm water again!. Repeat this process for about ten minutes!. (Warning: If you press too hard you might make your ear pop when you remove the cloth so be gentle because we both know how painful it can be when your ear pops and it's infected!!)
4) Take some Advil or Tylenol if the pain does not go down at all!.

Things to remember:

1) Try NOT to get water in your ears while taking showers
2) Using Q-tips can cause damage to your ear-drum so don't put it past the entrance even though it's tempting (I know!)
3) Maybe try talking to your doctor about having tubes in your ears if the problem seems to be drainage!. I had them put in when I was 2 and they fell out so I'm probably going to have them put back in my ears because of my chronic sinusitis!.

Well you should go back to the doctor what they did the first time was called an irrigation!. They'll probably recommend that you get tubes in your ear, because it sounds like you have swimmers ear!. It hurts more when you lay down because the pressure in your body changes and puts more force on your ears!. The waxy build up is actually pushing on the bone in your ear cause more pain when more pressure is applied!. Hopefully they'll put you on a stronger pain medicine and antibiotics!. If it really hurts go to the emergency room and they'll take care of it for you!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
