You might have injured your rotator cuff!. This will last a few weeks to heal if you have a severe injury!. I have had this injury atleast 3 or 4 times during my years lifting weights!. Never had this problem from doing push ups but you might have underdeveloped muscles!. Its painful and could get worse!. I had a situation where I couldnt even turn my head without pain because it tightened up the entire left side of my upperbody!. It will go away!. You dont need to see a doctor!. I know some people that will see a doctor for just about anything!. This doesnt require a doctor because it will go away gradually!. But it could take 3 weeks to heal!. If its a minor injury or even just a sore muscle then you dont need to worry!. It will go away in a few days!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Definitely not!. Any pain while exercising is a "STOP!." There's a difference between pain and fatigue!. This sharp pain sounds like it is a tear, or soon to be tear of the rotator cuff!. Due to the fact that this could be more than one condition, you might need to see more than one doctor!.
I recommend get this looked at immediately before it turns into something much more serious!.
See an orthopedic shoulder specialist, he may recommend physical therapy or more tests!.
Do not ignore this if you are getting pain!Www@Answer-Health@Com

You gotta condition your body first to be able to do exercise without pain afterwards!. Since you're not conditioned, you're going to have to rest it!.

For all exercise/sport related injuries you can generally
Rest
Ice
Compress
Elevate
or "RICE" for short!. That will help in the meantime!.

Worst case scenario your pectoral tendon is weak!. You don't want to break that so definiately rest it!. I don't think P!.E!. will stress you enough so as long as you RICE you can still do that!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

It's your rotator cuff!. You need to strengthen it, or you are headed for an injury!. Here's a good website that will show you how: http://familydoctor!.org/online/famdocen/!.!.!. Don't ignore this!. If you do tear it, then you will be out of the game for a long time until it heals!. Www@Answer-Health@Com
