Should i go get a blood test?!

Question: Should i go get a blood test!?
Ive never had one and my body has been changing a bit recently!.
Im 23, always have been fairly skinny no matter what i eat or did!.
Over the last few months i have put on 10- 15kg and i just feel different!.
More aches and pains!.

All my life i have always found it hard to wake up, no matter what time i go to bed i just cant get up before midday unless im forced to!. I can have 12+ hrs sleep and still find it hard to get out of bed!.

Is there anything i should be looking for or asking my Doctor to look for!?Www@Answer-Health@Com

Answers:
Yes, please do!. It may be a thyroid condition such as an underactive thyroid or something else such as an iron deficiency known as anemia (though that may not result in weight gain but the fatigue)!. Just fyi that one should Not take iron supplements until he or she has had a blood test and confirmed anemic since too much iron can cause liver damage!. Please do talk with your family doctor and he or she can give you a lab slip for blood work!. That ol' saying, "when in doubt, throw it out" can have a variation for health problems, 'when in doubt, get it checked out'!. Please do follow up as soon as possible!.

The other postee made an excellent point about the sleep apnea (stop breathing for a time during sleep), and please do talk with your dr about it in addition to the other blood work!. Perhaps he or she can send you to a pulmonologist (lung dr) for further evaluation including a sleep study (painless test performed at a sleep lab where the person stays overnight and looks at the person's breathing, heart rate and brain activity)!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Ordinarily I would immediately think of an under-active thyroid gland but you say you've always had problems with waking up!. This is more suggestive of sleep apnoea!.
The sudden weight gain again suggests under-active thyroid or, you could be experiencing some mild kidney problems!.
If it was me I would be expecting my doctor to order a full blood workup to check the whole body's chemistry!. In that I would ensure I got a thyroid function test!.
If these tests are normal then I would get some sleep studies done!. If you snore you are more likely to have sleep deprivation problems due to partial blockages of your trachea - windpipe while asleep!. Www@Answer-Health@Com

perhaps a sleep study, your complaints are classic for sleep apnea!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
