Can my school ignore a doctors medical advice and request?!

Question: Can my school ignore a doctors medical advice and request!?
My school (a texas public university) has refused to allow me to live off campus until I meet their requirement!. Be 21 or have 60 hours!. However my medical doctor has insisted that I get out of the dorm rooms because of my severe allergies, and i'm ADD and cannot study with a roommate!. Yes I know there are medications for this, and i've been on them in the past, however its my personal choice to learn to cope without it and i'm doing well with a quiet space!. The school will not allow me to have a private room either!. Is there any legal grounds that I have when the school just ignores a doctors medical advice that affects my health, basically because they want to corner me into paying rediculous amounts for dorm feesWww@Answer-Health@Com

Answers:
Assumedly you have signed a contract to say you will live in the dorms and pay for this accommodation for a year!?

If that's the case then (although they can't force you to remain in the dorm room) they can force you to continue to make payments for the room as agreed!.

I would suggest you demand an appointment to see the dean!. Take all doctors notes with you etc or better still ask your doctor to attend and explain that due to your medical conditions, living in the dorm is having and adverse effect on your health and will in the longrun impact on your ability to complete your studies to the best of your ability!.

Good luck!

PS: Having seen your additional comments I would suggest that at the meeting you do mention that if the situation is not rectified you will be seeking professional legal advice!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
