I recommend that you get evaluated by your doctor or go to an emergency department if you are concerned about these symptoms!. The following information is no substitute for an evaluation by a doctor!. The first condition that comes to mind is a superficial thrombophlebitis!. This is inflammation of the superficial veins that is associated with clot formation and is often brought on by a recent IV placement in the affected vein (but not necessarily)!. In such a condition, it is imperative to rule out a deep vein thrombosis, which is potentially life threatening!.
