Vitamin Tablets? how much is safe?!

Question: Vitamin Tablets!? how much is safe!?
Which vitamin are you not supposed to take too much of!?

Its just i was talking to a friend who said that they hardly ever get colds or ill because they take vitamin c tablets everyday!.

I take "sevenseas" multi vitamins and codliver oil!.
Is that sufficient enough !? or should i take an extra vit C tablet as well, or would it be too much!?Www@Answer-Health@Com

Answers:
You can safely take megadoses of vitamin C!. In fact that is recommended in cold/flu season to avoid catching anything and when down with either bug!. Up to 1000mg of Vitamin C is prescribed every hour, up to bowel tolerance!. When/if diarreah begins, cut back on dosage you have reached B!.T!.

The US RDA for vitamin C is 60mg!. That is just the bare minimum to keep you alive/avoid scurvy!. It is not therapeutic/beneficial dosage!.

Vitamin B6 is toxic in high doses!. My blood levels indicated this and I had to cut back!. So are fat soluble vitamins (A, D & E) though most people will have low Vit!. D (that is my case, dangerously low so I supplement)!.

The water soluble vitamins will be execreted through urination!.

Hope this helps!. You can pump up your Vit C without problems!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

All vitamins are good for you!. D is good for a person who doesn't spend much time outdoors and it's found abundantly in cod liver oil!.C is good for the flu and colds in the winter but won't keep you from getting the flu or cold!. Some vitamins aren't good for you if you take too much and D is one of them!. Go to the web and search vitamins to see which is safe and which is not in excess!. If you take too much vitamin C you're body will just expel the excess but it won't hurt you!. It will just give you a mild case of diarrhea!. B-12 in oral form is usually destroyed in the stomach, so it is best absorbed in the body by injections!. when you get sick, vitamins perform well to aid in recovery however don't forget proteins!. Anti-bodies are made of complex proteins and they are what kill viruses and germs in you're system!. You can get all these complex proteins in food yeast powder sold at health food stores!. Brewer's yeast is also good but tastes bitter!. When you get sick remember, proteins should be the no!.1 priority and vitamins second!. And vitamins before you get sick!. Remember that everyone is different as to who needs more of this or that vitamin and mineral but we all need all of them!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Your multivitamin tablet should have plenty of vitamin C in in already!.

Sevenseas is a good rand but the problem is that there tablets are a liquid in a plastic capsule whereas it is better to take a powder tablet (ie one that looks like a pain killer, its not soft, its powder squashed together in a pill shape) that way you can cut it in half, take 1 piece in the morning and one in the afternoon, that way you are increasing your intake even though you are only taking one tablet a day!. your body can absorb more of it because when you take a full tablet it moves through your digestive tract quicker then your body can absorb all the vitamins!.
taking a half at a time is also better for you because you are not getting a big rush of vitamins and then slowly slumping through the day, your getting half in the morning and half at dinner!.

i would recommend keeping an eye out for the 'powder pill type' rather then the liquid but there's no harm in staying in sevenseas if you don't want/don't like/cant find the powder ones!.

Good luck!.

one answerer says she gets cravings dor a certin fruit and thtas because her body is lacking in a certain nutrient from that fruit!. that is total bull! She craves that fruit simply because she wants the taste of it!.

She also said that you dont need a multivitamin for good health, tish posh! Any doctor will recommend a good multivitamin ALONG WITH A HEALTHY DIET!. Just because you are taking a multivitamin doesn't mean you can eat crap but my the same token, just because you eat well doesnt mean you shouldn't take a multivitamin!Www@Answer-Health@Com

Frankly speaking !.!.!. i strongly think it is enough !.!.!.

Your Body will need to build up its on resistance to illness and not depend too much on this supplements!.!.!. If one day you decide to stop, your body does not have the resistance to defend itself against germs and bacteria because it is overdependent on the tablets!.

My point is just to reduce your daily vitamins but maintain taking the cod liver oil!.!.!. If possible take more fruits and vegetables !.!.!. from there you can cut down on those tablets as fruits and vegetables are better sources of vitamins!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

personally i think that if you are going to get a cold it don't matter what you take, you will get the cold anyway!.
i don't take any vitamins because i have a healthy diet, some days i might crave a certain fruit or vegetable and that is because my body wants what ever vitamin or mineral is in that item, you don't need tablets for good health

----------EDIT-----------

it is scientifically proven that the body craves the nutrients it need, and the natural source from which they come from!.
tablets aren't naturalWww@Answer-Health@Com

Recent studies actually suggest those who take vitamins above the RDA actually have a slightly higher mortality rate than those who don't!.

As long as you're eating a well balanced diet and getting your 5 a day fruit and vegetables; vitamin supplements on top of this are of no therapeutic benefit!.

Vitamins will not prevent colds!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

shops sell capsules with both multivits & codliver oil in it!. that way, it includes all the vitamins & codliver oil your body needs, so u dont have to buy lots of separate vitaminsWww@Answer-Health@Com

You shouldnt over do vitamins cos you can get to much of a good thing! Your body will become over dependent on them!. Your seven seas one every day on its own is fine!. They look like droppings though, dont you think!!?Www@Answer-Health@Com
