We will not have an NHS in the future!.

People have abused it far too much for far too long and now it is crumbling!. We are already overloaded with the old, the infirm and the sick, as you say!. This situation is made much much worse with over 80% of what we treat directly caused or influenced by peoples p**s poor lifestyles, and being forced to constantly treat the obese, or habitual drug users!. We are overloaded, we are burned out, and the NHS is dying a slow, painful death!.

Already with the publication of the Darzi report hospitals are beginning to be changed into polyclinics, with the peripheral services such as surgery etc being auctioned off to private companies!. (You dont believe me!? Just look it up! Virgin and Boots the Chemists are just 2 private companies vying for contracts)!.

It will all be private sooner or later!.

The NHS was established post war because of the clear need to keep the population healthy (many soldiers were unfit for action because of poor health care)!. It is a unique system we should be proud of what it has achieved as a system that provides universal care free at the point of entry!.

Truth is this though, it is no longer fit for purpose, we are healthier than ever before but many of our health problems that remain are lifestyle diseases!. As the NHS is an illness based service it is reactive not proactive, so as time goes on we will probably see more and more private health care introduced to offset the cost of running the service!.

It will be justified because so many of our illnesses are related to afluent lifestyles such as unhealthy diet, lack of exercise, smoking, drinking too much alcohol!. So why should we "all pay" for the treatment of people who have developed these lifestyle problems!?

I would love to think that it would continue to be available for the poor but the rest of us should be required to have a regular MOT - we do it for cars!

Ah, but maybe with all this care the old will not be infirm or sick and the already infirm will be healed!.
If not more houses will have to be sold to fund care homes or relatives will be forced to care for their elders!.
Ouch!

I don't rate its chances if Labour continue to mismanage it!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
