My father smokes.I want him to stop. what should i do?!

The same problem with my elder brother; his daughter tried every thing including smoking before him, telling him that she will stop when he stops!.!. nothing worked!. His wife tried so many tricks , going to her parents home leaving him with his son and a daughter!.!. that also did not work!.!. finally his wife/ son and daughter made a plan!.!. (my brother was was regularly going to a family doctor for complete health check up!.!. once in 6 months,) they talked to the family doctor for his help!.!. when my brother went for health check up next time, the doctor told him something about his lungs ( as per the plan ) which needs further investigation!. and told him that this might be due to his smoking!.!. !.my brother was shaken a bit!.!. doctor also prescribed
some medicines and asked him to stop smoking for 15 days days and come back for further tests!. my brother took it seriously!.!. and stopped smoking for 15 days!.!. and again went for health investigation!.!. this time doctor told him!.!. it seems that he is improving!.!. and asked to continue not smoking for another 3 months and come back for further tests!.!. This worked!.!. ultimately my brother gave up smoking altogether!.!. now he is not smoking!.!. unless smokers themselves stop smoking, you can not do any thing!.!.try this plan!.!.!.best of luck!.!.!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

there is nothing more for you to do coz it depends on your father, if he wants to stop smoking he will do it if he doesn't - then there is no hope!.

My father smokes too, and I've tried everything I can to make his stop but nothing worked so I gave up understanding that it's all up to him!.

So I know how you feel!. Though it's not in our hands!.

what you should do is ask him if he wants to stop because if he doesnt want to!.!.!.he isnt going to , no matter how much you want him to!.


At the same time, i would sit and talk with him and tell him how much you love him and want t him to be healthy, etc!.!.!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

my daughter used to try to get my mom to stop, she would print up pictures of smokers lungs and put them on her bed!. Nothing worked, my mom wanted to stop, she just couldn't do it

First he has to want to stop!. If he does, I went to the Dr and got a prescription for Chantix (not sure if spelled correctly) which really reduced my desire to smoke and after 30 days I had stopped completely!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
