Hospital just trying to get me to leave?!

Question: Hospital just trying to get me to leave!?
I went to my family doctor last friday to get some x-rays on my hand!. he sent me across the street to the hospital to get it done!. so i get my x-ray done and im waiting in the waiting room for someone to tell me whats going on!. then the lady at the counter calls me up and she just tells me i can leave!. i ask her what she means and she says "you can leave and your doctor will be contacting you!." she hasn't told me anything about my x-ray results!. i was with my mom and my mom and i are now talking to this lady for 5 min asking what the results were and what i should do about my finger!. she finally says that there is no fracture and that the doctor at the hospital was on the phone with my family doctor!. but she said it with out looking at an x-ray or no one coming to her telling her im ok!. so i go back across the street to my family doctor to get a splint on my finger and he says that the hospital didn't contact him yet!. i haven't heard anything from the hospital or my doctor since friday and i still can't bend my finger and it is still really bruised!. do you think that the hospital was just trying to get me to leave the hospital!? im kind of worried that the lady at the counter just said anything to get me to leave and that my finger might actually be broken or something!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Answers:
Unfortunately, this is pretty common!. Dr!. sends you for an MRI, X-Ray, etc!., they don't usually give you results right then and there like they do on TV!. They expect the Dr!. to tell you how to treat it, etc!.

I think this gal was certainly lacking in good customer service as she could have let you know that if there was anything seriously wrong that you would be informed at that time, she also could have given you more specific encouragement to work with your Dr!. instead of just saying, "hit the road!." The lady behaved completely inappropriate and you should contact human resources!. I would defiantly contact you doctor to see if he received any results!. As far as them not having the information right away is almost always the case!.!.!.it usually takes 3-4 business days for the doctor to read the x-ray!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Phone your doctor!.they will have all the notes in by now and tell you exactly what was on the x ray (but im thinking it is fine or the doctor would've phoned you first)Www@Answer-Health@Com

Contact a patient liaison at the hospital and talk with them about what happened!. It is their job to work on these type of issues!. Www@Answer-Health@Com

I work at a hospital and its our policy that the tech, for whatever services is not allowed to give you any results!.!. You must contact your doctor for any results!.!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

This sounds like very poor practice!. I would hope your physician would get involved and advocate for you with the hospital!. I suggest that you make sure you get names and make complaints to people!. Also when you are in the situation, your mom can insist on speaking to a supervisor!. Your health is important and shouldn't be taken lightly!.
