How long does it take for pain from a trapped nerve to subside?!

Question: How long does it take for pain from a trapped nerve to subside!?
I've been in immense pain since last Sunday due to a trapped nerve!. I have pain radiating down my left arm from shoulder to fingertips!. I've been to the doctor, had tests, etc, but painkillers are just not working!. I've tried Ibuprofen, paracetamol, and even the codeine (30mg) the doc prescribed makes no difference

Does anyone know roughly how long a trapped nerve takes to mend!? I've been doing the exercises that the doctor showed me to do but that's not helping either!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

I have had a trapped nerve a couple of times so I know the pain your going through mine was in my neck and like you travelled down my arm, thankfully each time it was for a week and a half to two weeks, long enough I know!. What worked for me was taking Ibuprofen and codeine together (check with your doc first)!. Hope you are pain free soon!. Www@Answer-Health@Com

Trapped nerve meaning pinched nerve!? I am assuming the doctor did xrays!? Did you go to a orthopedic doctor!? I know this may sound crazy, but have you thought of a chiropractor!? I thought I had carpal tunnel at one time and mentioned it to my chiropractor!. He manipulated my wrist and elbow (moved the bones to relieve the pressure off the nerves) and with in 24 hrs, I didn't have any more tingling pain!. He said both my wrist and elbow were out of alignment!. I don't know if this will help, but it may be worth the try!. See if your insurance will pay for this treatment, some won't!. Good Luck!.

You need a good chiropractor!. "Trapped nerves" are their specialty!. Pain pills will not solve the problem!. Nerve impingement involves not only the nerve, but the surrounding tissues (joints, muscle, etc), all of which need to be addressed, not just the pain!. Without proper care you will likely experience this again!.

I can't give you an exact estimate for recovery because it completely depends on the mechanism of your injury/condition and degree of involvement of adjacent structures!.

Good luck!

Cortisone injections will help!. what you are describing sounds like a frozen shoulder!. i had it about 3 years ago!. very painful!. the shots helped!. my therapist gave me a pulley that attaches to the top of a door and it really helped to loosen everything up!. a heating pad is good too!. it took about 6 weeks to start feeling better!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Ask to be referred to a physiotherapist!. They are better qualified to help than your average GP!. By the way if the avatar is you, you are the worst case I have ever seen!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
