Please help: I had a seizure while driving in my car last night?!

Question: Please help: I had a seizure while driving in my car last night!?
I was on my way to my boyfriends house after leaving work early!. Should have just went home!. I called my boyfriend at a set of lights that I normally call him at to let him know I am almost there!. He said "Okay I will meet you out there"!. Minutes passed and he asked where I was because he saw me pass his street, which is BEFORE the mall entrance!. I woke up in the backseat of a police car lost!. I had no idea where I was!. So Pete (boyfriend) called and called because I was acting funny!. He kept saying WHERE ARE YOU!!? I told him I was at Maaco!. Which is at the mall, wayy past his house!. The cop was interrogating me asking me if I was on something!. I told him I was fine I'm not a drug user and that I didn't know what happened!. He did not bring an ambulance to me!. Don't remember if I refused to or not but I didn't get there by ambulance!. My sister brought me to the hospital where they told me I had a grand mal seizure!. They took blood work, urine sample, cat scan, x rays, and blood pressure (which was high)!. I was told I crashed into two parked cars!. No injuries or damage to cars except for my car has a broken headlight on the passenger side!.

I bit my toungue badly and this morning I woke up to weak thighs like I have been working out!. I was driving alone!.

My questions are:

1) Why are my thighs sore!?
2) When will I be able to drive again!?
3) How could I have driven past his house without recognizing it!?

I apologize for the length!. All help is greatly appreciated!!Www@Answer-Health@Com

Answers:
1) in a grand mal seizure, the muscles contract - a LOT!.
beleive it or not, you used up a bunch of calories in that seizure!.

2) that depends on what the tests show, what your doctor thinks, AND what the laws in you state are!.

3) in a seizure state your perceptions are altered - it may have been like you were asleep with your eyes open!.
At any rate, you entire brain was not working normally,
so recognition was greatly effected!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

1!. they could be sore from the impact of the crash evan tho it was minro

2!. after having a sezier then u are not allowed to drive for a few months or a year or so somthing like that

3!. u could have been busy driving to noatice his houseWww@Answer-Health@Com

Damn, I would be worried about having been with that police officer!.!.!.

What kind of cop doesn't call for help!.!.!.

Sounds odd to me!.!.!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

My brother has legit seizures too!.!.!.so I kinda know about them!.!.!.

1!. Why are your thighs sore!? Baisiacally a seizure (grand mal seizure) features a loss of consciousness and violent muscle contractions!. It's the type of seizure most people picture when they think about seizures in general!. Grand mal seizure is caused by abnormal electrical activity throughout the brain, so signs and symptoms typically involve the entire body!. Thus, theviolent muscle contractions I'm guessing could have made your thighs sore!.!.!.the pain will diminish (just an educated guess on my part though)

2!. When will you be able to drive again!? I think there are many factors that play into u being able to drive!. For example, my brother's seizures are few and far between!.!.!.but he has to take medicine (pills) to control them (read the way bottom for more info)!. Maybe u have to to!. Also, I'd wait until the pain in ur thighs subside!. Confer with a doctor about this question (wouldn;t want to let it happen again!.!.!.there are really no signals or signs of an upcoming grand mal seizure)

3!. You drove past his hosue w/o realizing it simply because u were unconscious!. You had no clue what was going on whatsoever!.
My brother, for example, had a seizure at the bus stop when I was in the 8th grade and he was doing some weird stuff, like randomly lying down, then getting back up and shaking the stop sign!. He has no recollection of it either!.!.!.so ur oblivious to ur surroundings when a seizure occurs (which is another reason to confer with ur doctor about driving again)

And here are some reasons as to how u possibly got the seizure:

vry low blood levels of glucose, sodium, calcium or magnesium
Using or withdrawing from drugs, including alcohol (not likely since u weren't on anything)
Infections such as meningitis or encephalitis
Brain tumors
Blood vessel malformations in the brain or strokes

Talk to ur doctor because he is who will help the most!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

becuase you were sitting most of the day!. ususally you walk ro do something where you don't just sit there!.
when ever they find out if you are ok to drive!. and that you wont have a seizure again!.
maybe sometimes you don't realize whats going on and are out of it when you have seizures!. Www@Answer-Health@Com

the length is no problem, so dont frett!.
1) probably from the light impact of the crash, of because your working out too much
2) when you find out what triggered the seisure, if this is your first, if not, you should not drive alone much for safety!.
3) your mind could have been effected or you might have been really sleepy or something!.!.!.

i hope i helped you!

get well soon

1)your muscles reacted to the seizure
2)most likely you would be able to drive again but im not sure
3)Maybe you were going to fast or you were talking to him on the phone and wasn't paying attention!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Thighs are sore because seizures contract all the muscles in the body so thats why!. You should get on medication to be able to drive, unless the cop is going to do soemthing about you driving again!.!.!. and when people have seizures you tend to forgot just about everything right before you have the seizure!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

they might have had to hold you down by your thighs if you were combative!.!.!. you will lose your license at least for a while!.!.!. and you were already in the beginning stages of your seizure as you passed his house!.

this happened to my nephew!.!.!. he is on medication now and able to drive again!. thank god you weren't hurt - or hurt anyone else!!!Www@Answer-Health@Com

1!. Your thighs are sore from your muscles contracting from the seizure!.
2!. You will probably have a doctor look at you !.!. make sure you dont have epilepsy or anything, if you do you might not be able to drive again!.
3!. After/Before a seizure you're really not with it or it could be some other kind of neurological problem!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

1!. Your thighs are sore because during a grand mal seizure (aka tonic clonic seizure) many of your muscles go into contraction and can stay contracted for the length of the seizure (clonic/clonus indicates a state of sustained contraction)!. Your hamstrings and quadriceps were probably contracted throughout the seizure & are sore because its as if they have run a marathon!.

2!. Most commonly a license is lost for a period of 1 year after having a seizure!. A neurologist will have to release you after you have been seizure free for a lengthy period of time!.

3!. During a seizure you won't "recognize" anything!. The neurons in your brain are firing uncontrollably!. Often times you even experience a period of "confusion" following a seizure called a "post-ictal period" in which you remain very drowsy, fuzzy, and slightly lost!. Www@Answer-Health@Com

1!. Your thighs could be sore from HITTING something in the accident, or from seizing!. Check for bruising!.

2!. Your driving days are probably OVER!. You have EPILEPSY!. Epileptics can't drive, because what happened to you can happen!. You're lucky you didn't KILL someone!. Luckier than you realize!.

From the link, below:
You need to discuss the nature of your seizure disorder with your doctor to establish whether you can be licensed, perhaps with a restriction!. Your doctor may base his or her recommendation on whether your seizures impair consciousness or movement, whether they occur only in your sleep, whether they are consistently preceded by an aura, whether they occur only at a certain time of day, or whether they occurred because you forgot to take your medication or because the doctor lowered your dose!. Even if your doctor believes you can drive safely, however, the final decision lies with your state's licensing agency!.

If you do not meet the requirements for a regular license, investigate the possibility of a restricted license!. Many states allow individuals with seizures to hold a restricted license!. This license permits driving under certain conditions, such as only during daytime, only to and from work within a certain distance from your home, or only during an emergency!.

It's understandable for you to feel that you're being punished if your driving is restricted!. Look up your state's laws and discuss with your doctor what restrictions are needed to maintain your safety in view of your individual seizure disorder!. Remember that restrictions do not always last a lifetime; they may be temporary, just until your seizures are under good control!.

3!. You drove past his house because you were having a SEIZURE!. You were "out of it!."

You need to work with a doctor--this could, and probably will, happen again!. It surely will if you remain unmedicated!. Doctors do report this stuff to DMVs, too--so don't think you can get away with not mentioning it!.

Sorry--it's a crappy diagnosis!. Trying to deny it, though, isn't going to change it!.

Stay away from trying to drive--next time, as I said, you might not be so lucky!. You do NOT want to kill anyone!.

Again, my sympathies!. You can live a fairly normal life, despite restrictions!. You'd probably do better in a city with a great public transportation hub, like, say, New York or Boston, where a car is an inconvenience, not a necessity!. This might just be the thing that makes you retool your entire lifestyle!.!.!.and that might not be a terrible thing!.
