What are some things you do to get a good night sleep?!


Question: What are some things you do to get a good night sleep!?
I really need some sleep!. Things are bugging me!. I really shouldn't say what they are, but I need something to help me get a good sleep!. Www@Answer-Health@Com

A long relaxing soak in the tub, reading a good book, a glass of milk or a cup of tea, helps me alot!. But there are times I have so much on my mind that I have to stop and concentrate on clearing my mind, otherwise the things I mentioned above would not do me any good!. Always know that you are in control of your mind!. You can make it do whatever you want!. When I am thinking negative thoughts, I stop and start thinking of something more positive and relaxing!. It takes some practicing, but it works!. And try not to worry about things until they happen!. I think alot of times we "borrow trouble" by worrying about things that never happen!. So I hope you can clear your mind and start sleeping better!. :)Www@Answer-Health@Com

If things are stressing you out then you can do various things to calm yourself down!.
I'll list a few!.!.!.
Write about it (song, journaling, poetry)
Scream into a pillow
Sit outside or someplace quiet
Meditate
Write a story (either about the problem, or anything)
Become more spiritual
Talk to someone about it, and talk!.!.!. not IM or e-mail
Connect with someone [ie sitting on the couch with someone and watching television with them!.!. Basically it just reminds you that someone is there for you]

You should practice these, even when you aren't too stressed out that way when you need them you are prepared!. Try it out, and do it for maybe a week to see if it helps you calm down!.

Along with that you can try taking Valerian Root!. You can buy it almost anywhere, Wal-Mart has it for the cheapest!. It's an herb that calms you down and is very relaxing!. It can help you sleep better!. Just be warned!.!.!. It smells horrendous!. It doesn't make you stay asleep though and is non-habit forming!.

My wife and I use a CD that plays what could be described as 'White Noise' It has some music but not enough to be distracting and a babbling brook!. The object of the CD is to clear your mind and let you relax so you can fall asleep!. We have used 3 or 4 different kind of these CDs and they all seem to workWww@Answer-Health@Com

Get a good pillow! Don't just buy whatever is on sale!. I'm a side sleeper and I recently bought a Ralph Lauren extra firm pillow from Macy's!. It was a little pricey, but I bought it on sale!. I am sleeping so much better now!.

As far as your troubles, try reading until you get sleepy!. Preferably some light fiction that is completely unrelated to your real life!. That's why I read sci-fi and fantasy novels!. Once you turn out the light, think about the book and the characters in it!. You should quickly drift off to sleep!.
