How should I take tramadol!?

Take tramadol exactly as it was prescribed for you!. Do not take it in larger doses or for longer than recommended by your doctor!. Follow the directions on your prescription label!. Do not take more than 300 milligrams of tramadol in one day!.
Take this medication with a full glass of water!.

Tramadol can be taken with or without food, but take it the same way each time!.
Do not crush the tramadol tablet!. This medicine is for oral (by mouth) use only!. Powder from a crushed tablet should not be inhaled or diluted with liquid and injected into the body!. Using this medicine by inhalation or injection can cause life-threatening side effects, overdose, or death!. Do not crush, chew, break, or open a controlled-release, delayed-release, or extended-release tablet or capsule!. Swallow the pill whole!. Breaking or opening the pill may cause too much of the drug to be released at one time!.

If you use the tramadol extended-release tablet, the tablet shell may pass into your stools (bowel movements)!. This is normal and does not mean that you are not receiving enough of the medicine!.
Tramadol may be habit-forming!. Tell your doctor if you feel the medicine is not working as well in relieving your pain!. Do not change your dose without talking to your doctor!. Do not stop using tramadol suddenly, or you could have unpleasant withdrawal symptoms such as anxiety, sweating, nausea, diarrhea, tremors, chills, hallucinations, trouble sleeping, or breathing problems!. Talk to your doctor about how to avoid withdrawal symptoms when stopping the medication!. Store tramadol at room temperature away from moisture and heat!. Keep track of how many pills have been used from each new bottle of this medicine!. Tramadol is a drug of abuse and you should be aware if any person in the household is using this medicine improperly or without a prescription!. Www@Answer-Health@Com

I'd double check with the pharmacist and doctor as it is a narcotic and the dosage is high, above what is recommended for maximum dose, 50% above - from the website I got the below dosage information!. http://www!.medicinenet!.com/tramadol/arti!.!.!.

DOSING: The recommended dose of tramadol is 50-100 mg (immediate release tablets) every 4-6 hours as needed for pain!. The maximum dose is 400 mg/day!. To improve tolerance patients should be started at 25 mg/day, and doses may be increased by 25 mg every 3 days to reach 100 mg/day (25 mg 4 times daily)!. Thereafter, doses can be increased by 50 mg every 3 days to reach 200 mg day (50 mg 4 times daily)!. Tramadol may be taken with or without food!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

It does seem a lot, I would be inclined to query the dose!.
Tramadol is addictive and you can also develop a tolerance to it (so you need more for the same effect)!.
As her doctor has prescribed it tread carefully as she might be in so much pain that she needs that amount!.
We can only speculate, she and her doctor are the only ones to decide what is necessary to keep her pain free!. They know the facts, we don't!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

It seems a little high - is it in tablet form or does she have an IV!? The maximum dosage differs between the 2 types!.
You would be better to voice your concerns to her doctor though and ask them to explain their reasoning as you understand that 400mg in tablet form is normally the maximum recommended dose!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

hiya,i was taking that amount, but it was not helping the pain!.they have now put me on morphine, and im pain free!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
