More pain relief ideas!?!

Question: More pain relief ideas!!?
My friends daughter is 15, she has chronic toothache!.
She had the option of root canal treatment at an emergency appt yesterday, but declined because the only person on offer was a student dentist!. ( she wasnt confident of his abilities!!!)
She thought the anti biotics & pain relief would see her thru untill her appt next week!
But it has got worse, she didnt pick up her anti biotic prescription yet & today has taken maximum paracetamol & ibrufen!.
Any ideas on what else she can do, as there is NO emergency 24hr dentist available!?!? Www@Answer-Health@Com

I've heard that if you put a bit of whiskey on cotton wool, and then dab it onto the tooth it helps to numb it!. Not enough to get her drunk though! lol

Also put an ice pack on the side of her face to numb it!.

I know you can't get to the chemist now, but if she's having trouble sleeping, go and get some Nightol tablets and they should help her drift off (but only use them short term)!.

Hope she gets it sorted soon :o)Www@Answer-Health@Com

clove oil can help- put in on the sore area, Also if the paracetamol you talk about don't contain codeine already, get some cocodamol from the chemist, they are much stronger than paracetamol and can be taken alongside ibuprofen!.
if the pain is still terrible, A&E can probably prescribe stronger ones!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

hmm if the tooth is infected they are probably going to want her half way through the course of anti biotic before they will do anything for her!.!.!. takes about three to four days of the anti biotic to kill the tooth pain!.!. nothing helped me at all cold pack on the jaw on for five minutes and off for five helps to deaden it though!.

I had the same when I was about 13-14!. I have a jaw absess underneath one of my tooth!. It was absolute pain i couldn't sleep and I was very sick!. I couldnt keep any food down whatsoever!. However you can go to doctors to get a prescription for co-dyadromal!? or something which is very good and strong!. But just keep going with the para and the ibro!.

Good luck xWww@Answer-Health@Com

She can put clove oil on the affected tooth!. It stings a little and tastes pretty strong but usually helps ease the pain!. If she can't get clove oil, she can use real vanilla extract!. It doesn't do as well as the clove oil but it will help some!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

There's nothing but antibiotics will help relieve the pain of an infection/abscess!. Try and find a late night Chemist or call NHS Direct for advice!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
