~ hi ~ I wish I had more answers!. I can just go by experience!. When my or my kids necks hurt the side it's typically because they have swollen glands!. Have you checked the glands on that side of your neck to make sure they're not swollen!. I get swollen glands and I don't necessarily feel sick at the time - just sensitivity to the side of my neck and it seems swollen and even if I don't seem sick I know by having swollen glands this is my bodies immune response to to fight the illness - cold, flu, etc!. Most of the times the swelling and pain will just go down on its own!. However, you can try applying hot or cold compresses to the area and possibly taking Ibuprofen or Tylenol for the pain!. I find Ibuprofen liquid gels work best and fastest!.

If you start developing other symptoms like fever, sore throat, flu symptoms, you may want to see your Doctor for follow-up!.

I hope you get answers and relief soon!. =)Www@Answer-Health@Com

From your explanation, it sounds as if you have a Tic!. I am not sure if this is long standing or something new!. A motor tic is a repetitive, uncontrollable, purposless contraction of an individual muscle or group of muscles, usually about the face, arms, or shoulders!. There are several categories of Tics such as Tourette's syndrome; however, I am assuming that you have what is know as Transient Tic Disorder which presents as eye blinking, nose scrunching, or what you explain in your question!. These tics last for a short period and are more notieable during stressful times!. Males are more likely to be affected and their tics are usually described as "nervous habits!." It is important to note that these disturbances are NOT due to medical or psychological conditions though they are irresistable urges!.

People experiencing tics indicate that they come on like a blink or a sneeze and there is a need to complete the act!. They are involuntary and compelling and one has little control over the onset of a tic!. Most people are aware of the tic before they act on it!. A tic of this nature can usually be put of temporarily but later when permitted the tic act is completed often times with an increase in intensity!. Tics increase in frequency and severity during times of stress, after physical exercise when relaxing, idleness, fatigue, exposure to heat, and use of dopaminergic drugs such as steroids or caffine!. They diminish when one is engaged in mental or physical activity, consumption of drugs or alcohol, or possibly when alone and safe!. Dompamine blocking agents tend to suppress tics in some individuals and are currenlty used to treat Restless Leg Syndrome!.
