Please don't put butter or baby teething gel on it!. If it's only red and painful then it's a 1st degree burn and with cold water and time it will be o!.k!. You can take a pain reliever for pain if you want to!. If it blisters, it's a 2nd degree burn and you should not burst the blister and wrap it with something clean and take pain reliever!. If the burn is all the way through the layers of skin, then it is a 3rd degree burn and you need to go to the emergency room!. Most likely your burn is 1st or 2nd degree and water and pain relief will be enough!. If it's 2nd degree, you might want to get some antibiotic ointment to apply later today or tomorrow!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Submerge it in water!. It's a quick way to stop the stinging!.

Water should be equal to or below room temperature!.

You can take hand out periodically to see if the stinging comes back!. If it does, submerge it again for a bit!. Eventually, within hours usually, you should be able to remove the thumb and be able to work around hot items again as if it never happened!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
