Do I have nerve damage?!

Question: Do I have nerve damage!?
I had surgery on my right knee last May to repair a torn ACL!. I had previously hurt my knee when I was a kid and the dr said that that probably tore the ACL part of the way and when I had a spill down our stairs it probably tore it the rest of the ways!. The surgeon told my husband after the surgery was over that there was a lot of damage to the meniscus and a lot of scarring!. They smoothed out the meniscus as much as they could because he said it was shredded and I ended up taking about 6 months to fully recuperate!. I was in physical therapy for 5 of those six months!. Now since my surgery I have not been able to feel the inside and front part of my lower leg from my scar down to the ball of my ankle!. For a long time it was just like it was asleep but now it hurts to even touch that part of my leg!. I can't sleep on my left side because the bed touching my leg hurts and I can't even shave that part of my leg!. It doesn't just hurt where it is touched either -it feels like a jolt of electricity that runs down my leg!. My Physical therapist said that it was nerve damage and it should go away but it doesn't seem to be going away it is just getting worse!. Now I can't even wear jeans because it hurts my leg when they brush up against my leg!. Does anyone know how long it takes for nerves to heal!? Has anyone else ever gone through this when they had surgery!? Any suggestions would be great! Thanks! Also I cannot afford to go back to the Dr!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Answers:
I had something similar following repeated surgery on my wrist, I couldn't bear anything near my hand and got worse as the days went on!.
Hypersensitivity was diagnosed, the nerves in your leg are overreacting, expecting every light touch to mean more pain!. The only way to overcome this is to deliberately touch the area!. I was advised to start with a feather and work up to a scouring pad!. It takes weeks but does go but you have to persist!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

did you get an second opinion and see what's wrong maybe you have may torn a ligament or cracked a knee cap I know very little about certain parts of the human bodyWww@Answer-Health@Com

I had the same thing after my shoulder surgery!. It does appear that you have a great deal of nerve damage and I know $ is an issue but I would strongly recommend going back to the doc that did it and tell him!. Your follow should be included in the initial cost for the first year!. Also you can try gently rubbing above and below the area and start working on circulation but nerves have a tendency to cause pain and discomfort for ever if not taken care of!. Call your surgeon, he/she should check it out seeing as they operated!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
