Question: I wonder if the blood pressure monitor in grocery store are accurate!?
I just got a new home blood pressure monitor called Omron HM780, supposedly accurate!. Now when I go to the store my readings are between 130/85 to 148/95 and when I get home my readings are between 115/70 to 132/85 WHAT SHOULD I TRUST!?Www@Answer-Health@Com

Answers:
Blood pressures taken by a cuff are not as acurate as those taken manually by a medical proffessional or those taken invasively (straight from your arteries - they only do this for you in hospital in serious cases - such accuracy is not needed otherwise)!.
Your blood pressure could be fluctuating this much anyway, its hard to tell without a vast number of readings!. also the way you apply the cuff can affect the readings, if there are any kinks in it or if your arm is bent it cant affect the reading, this is why a number of readings show more accuracy than just one!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

You need to make sure you always use the same arm to get consistent data!. I have an 8 point difference between my left and right arms!.

If you are at the store are you doing a lot of walking before getting your reading!? You should sit for a few minutes first, and then get a reading!.

You can usually go to your local firehouse and get a free reading from them if they aren't out on a call!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Go to your local fire dept!.!.!. those are usually good!.!. and they will do it freeWww@Answer-Health@Com
