It has to do with cell damage!. The inflammation on your head is more obvious since it can't swell inward since your skull is in the way and an arm can swell in all directions increasing the diameter or circumference of your arm and it's less obvious!. Not to mention there's more meat on your arm to cushion a blow (disperse the impact) than on your head!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Your head has more small blood vessels near the skin surface that any other part of your body!. When you hit yourself there you break more of them and get a bigger bump!.
When you bang your arm part of the bump goes into soft tissue!. On your head the bump cannot work inwards; your skull is there!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

your head has very little soft tissue between the skull and the skin ie; muscle, fat etc !.!.!. that is why you notice the lump more !.!.!.

your arm has much more soft tissue so the hematoma (lump, bruise) is hidden within the fat and muscle!.

it reacts in that way as protection for your brain and skull

By padding it in such a manor prevents further injury to the more vital areasWww@Answer-Health@Com

hahahaha!.!.!.!. good question!.!.!.!. maybe its like an auto-helmet for your brain, as soon as its in danger it puts up a little shieldWww@Answer-Health@Com
