Answers:
I've had both hips replaced in separate surgeries at age 59!. The recovery is sort of long because of the movement restrictions, the need to use a walking aid for a few weeks or months, and the physical therapy requirements!. My surgeries were mostly uneventful and the results are very satisfying (such as - I can now walk! with no cane, no pain, and no limp)!.
Try not to worry too much!. It seems a good thing that they are keeping him in the hospital until they sort out the heart issues!. Better that than taking him home when he really isn't ready!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

My wife, 65, went through hip joint replacement Dec 15, 2007!. Her surgery went well but it took several hours!. She was on her feet the next day, albeit just a little!. Sent to a secondary care facility for five more days to start her therapy and get of the drug meds!.

Her first comments were that is was like they had just cut out the pain she had been living with!.

Bottom line, Follow the doctor's instructions and be diligent with the therapy!!!

Today, she just wishes she could have done it sooner!Www@Answer-Health@Com
