Question: How to bathe with a broken leg!.!?
Ok so I asked my mom and she said why not take a bath!? So I went here and searched up how to bathe!.
Now someone said do not get your leg wet!.
Is it ok if I do get my leg wet!? I can take my brace off since I don't have a cast yet and braces are easy!.

Depends!. What was the doctors advice on removing the brace - or is it a temporary splint, while you await casting!?
If you were not advised that removing the brace was safe - then you need to cover the brace with a plastic and seal the edges before you shower!. Garbage bags work well, as does a think layer of plastic wrap!. Be sure to seal the edges well - primarily the top!. Tape this up securely with a water resistant tape!.
Getting a cast or brace wet means the wet material can degrade, and the wetness stays close to the skin which leads to maceration and break down!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

though a bath or a shower sounds like the most wonderful
thing, you really should stick with sponge baths until the
orthopod tells you it is ok to shower or bathe!.!.!.
because slippery water is a dangerous place for a broken
anything, no matter how careful you intend to be,
accidents can happen and you could damage the surgeon's
work!. if the skin is broken or cut you might be leaving
yourself open to infection!. if the dr told you it's ok to bathe,
then get specific instructions as to what is and isn't

what i did when i had knee surgery is just take a whole bunch of plastic bags and tuck them into the brace and set up a chair outside of your shower (my brace went all the way up to my groin so i couldnt cover the whole thing completely) and i stuck my leg outside and rested it on the chair and used the removable shower head to bathe myself!. not fun and very uncomfortable, but gets the job done!.!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
you can take the brace off and bathe!. are you using crutches with the brace!? if should take the crutches in the shower it wont hurt them as they are stainless steel let me know how it worked av611@comcast!.netWww@Answer-Health@Com
Someone said that when they had a cast on a broken leg, they put the entire cast and foot to the knee in a plastic bad then tied it off so that the water would not leak into it when taking a shower or bath!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
Don't get your leg wet!. I have heard that when you break your leg, arm whatever it is, you put a garbage bag over it when getting wet!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
keep your leg dry!. put a trashbag over your leg!. unless you have one of those bags they give you at the doctors especially for it!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
