I was diagnosed 3!.5 years ago with Costochondritis so I am extremely familiar with my pain!. It turns out I was incorrectly diagnosed!.!.!.

There are many different underlying causes of the inflammation of Costochondritis such as coughing or an infection, however the condition is not one that should last too long so if it persists the doctors should consider the possibility of a wrong diagnoses!.

In my case: After the pain lasted for a year my Primary Care Physician ordered a MRI of my spine and a cervical syrnix was discovered to be causing the pain!.

If the pain does not go away ask your Primary Care physician about getting a consult to a Pain Management Doctor who does "Trigger Point" Injections!.!.!. I've been receiving trigger point injects of the drugs Toradol (An NSAID) and Marcaine (Local Anestetic) for the past three years!.!.!. They place the injection in the site of my pain on the lower right Rib Wall and relief from the injections generally last about 4 weeks!. So this would be a pain procedure they would need to be repeated but it works for me so it wouldn't hurt to talk to your doctor about the option!. It is much better then chronic usage of narcotic pain relievers!.

I know what pain you are going through if I can help at all with any other questions specifically please feel free to e-mail me!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

I don't know about the condition, but if motrin gives you some relief, maybe ask for vicoprophine!. It's a mix of hydrocodone and motrin!. It works very well for me ( I have fibromyalgia and hypermobile joint disorder)!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
