Pharmacist taking my personal info when I bought Tylenol 1?!

Question: Pharmacist taking my personal info when I bought Tylenol 1!?
Tylenol 1 (containing codeine) is available over the counter in my home of Canada!. I was under the impression no personal information had to be given upon purchase, but the pharmacist asked to see my ID and took notes of my name/address/phone number I can be reached at!. Is there a reason for this, and what do they do with this information!?
Thank youWww@Answer-Health@Com

Answers:
I must say first thing selling class V (lowest level narcotic) without a prescription and regulations depends on the state you are in!.

Most states will allow class V control medications to be bought without a prescription, (such as cough medication with codeine) but will require to log the patients information per state law!.

The reason for this is the control substance act!. Here in the United States, not only can the Pharmacy loose their license if they do not properly dispense scheduled drugs, but the buyer can sue the pharmacy if they become dependent on the medication!.

The main reason you would require to share Your information is to record how often you buy the medication, and if Your buying the medication at other pharmacies!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

In the United States the our government has "Drug Schedules" that are used to determine the regulation level any drug that is "Scheduled" There are Schedule I - V with Schedule I being prohibited items for any use or possession and then Shedule II - V are all able to be prescribed with Schedule II being the strictist enforce level!.
Since the product you were prescribed was scheduled typicall that information is collected along with the your Driver's license number if applicable!.

EDIT: Please See the link below your Tylenol 1 is listed under Schedule III where in the "Other Columns" category you will see it listed as "APAP w/codeine"
APAP is short for Acetamenophin which is the generic name for TylenolWww@Answer-Health@Com

sounds normal -thank him for doing his job and pay the bill!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
