Question: My 7 y/o brother!. wants to know what is going ot happen when his leg cast be removed tomorrow!?
He had the cast for 7 weeks, it is a full leg cast, and it is supposed to come off tomorrow if the x-rays shows a good healing, but mt brother wants to know what's going to happen when the cast is removed and I don't know how to explain him!. ThanksWww@Answer-Health@Com

Not much really!. The doctor will caution him to be very careful!. No trying to run or jump or lift heavy weights!. Even though the break has healed enough to remove the cast, the leg will still need time to completely heal to its former bone strength!. The muscles in that leg will also need time to regain their former strength from disuse!. It is possible he may need some type of rehabilitation therapy!. It depends on the type of break he had, his physical condition and how long he had limited use of that leg!. The doctor should advise him when he has the cast removed!. he will be very sore!. the removal of the cast is quite painless!. since he hasn't been able to bend his leg for 7 weeks, his knee will be very stiff and weak!. he may not be able to walk right for a week or so!. his leg that the cast was on will also be skinnier than the other leg!. it has started to atrophy from not being used!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
Awww!.!.!.how cute, my 7-yo daughter had a waterproof cast over the summer and although it sometimes got itchy she was able to do all the usual activities!. When she got it taken off her arm was a little skinny, it's called atrophy (normal muscle loss from lack of use) and it looked a little hairier than usual but she was back to using it in no time!. Now her broken wrist is just a memory but we've got pictures to prove it!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
Hello!. I just got a leg cast off after 6 weeks, and the worst part of the whole experience is when they first wheel out the saw they will be using to cu the cast off!. That part IS scary!. They put a flimsy ruler between the skin and cut the cast!. After that, he should be fine!. It's great that you care enough about your bro to ask this, good for you!Www@Answer-Health@Com
just tell him his leg will be back to normal, a little sore and itchy, but everything will be good!. it doesn't hurt to get a cast taken off!. tell him it's like a pizza cutter that removes his castWww@Answer-Health@Com
