Well it depends on what you did to your finger in the first place as to how long it will take to heal!. If it is a soft tissue injury as you presume it will take the same time to heal as a bruise (everyone is different) I would say that the pain will be gone in 12hrs - 2 days!. If pain persists past that you should contact your doctor!. If this is a fracture it will take 4-8 weeks to heal!. In order to avoid a doctors visit, I would "buddy tape" your injured finger to the tallest finger closest to it!. You do this by taping above and below the injury, but not on the joint!. If the injury is on the section of your finger with the nail don't bother with the buddy taping!. If this is your thumb, you need to see your doctor so they can evaluate it!. I would take Advil to help with the pain and ice the finger once every 30 min for the first day and every 2 hrs for the following days up to 3 days!. If the pain persists, your finger feels abnormally cold, have a tingling sensation, or loose feeling in your finger go to the doctor immediately!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Wash your finger with soap and warm water!.
Then rub alcohol, then peroxide, then Pividone Iodine 10% (what they use in the hospital for surgery and cuts, to prevent germs and infection)Www@Answer-Health@Com

nothing will happen, it is only your finger and will heal quicly, it will probably become bruisedWww@Answer-Health@Com

It sounds like you have a blood blister!. Be sure and keep your finger moving so it does not "freeze up"!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
