Surgery is SO scary!. I've never had back surgery, but I've had other kinds!. I'm 13, too!. I'm sure you'll be fine, but I know that you've heard that a LOT!. You can bring pants, but they should be sweat pants, or pajama pants!. They'll be more comfortable, too!. You won't be able to wear them during surgery, though, because your doctor will need to be able to get to your lower back!. You can bring your laptop, but you should ask before you turn it on to make sure that it doesn't interfere with any medical equipment!. Make sure you bring a lot of books, magazines, etcetera, because it may be kind of boring waiting at the hospital, as you will surely be for at least a week!. You will NOT be in pure agony, I promise you!. If it hurts, press that amazing little button for the nurse!. They can give you some more pain medicine!. And don't worry, it'll work!. They won't be things like advil or ibuprofen, they'll be strong narcotics!. I hope your surgery goes well, please post again telling us!.

Get well soon,

I have cared for some children that had similar surgeries and they came through just fine!.Some were as young as three years old!.You are going to be just fine!.your doctors know what they are doing, that's why the operation takes so long!.You just make sure you keep your parents informed about your pain and all the questions you have along the way!.good luck to you kid!.Let us know how everything went after you fell better!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

they will probably have you wear a hospital gown, because it's easier for them to care for you!.make sure the gown has snaps on the shoulders, and when you put the first on" the tail shiner"!.then put a second on with the opening towards the front!.!.then you will be covered!.!.You will be medicated and knocked out so you won't care!.!.good luck!.!.chin up!.Look at the future!.!.think happy thoughts!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

If you have a good hospital and surgeon i don't think you have to worry, the surgeons are more experienced than they used to be, I'm sure you will be fine after its over, don't worry god will say a prayer for you and i will too!. ok!?Www@Answer-Health@Com

I can only answer part of your question!. Although most people have operations when they are around 18 or 21 or when they get off on their own and have good insurance coverage, some do get operations while they are still young and under the insurance of their parents and while their bones are growing and to correct things so that in the future they won't have problems!. You'd have to check with the doctor as to how many operations like this he's done and how successful he's been and how many suits he's had against him!. Your parents will know how to do this!. That way you can feel more relaxed when you go into the operating room!.

Everyone is scared before an operation!. Most of us just pray and have everyone we know or don't know pray for us as well when we're scared!. All operations cause pain but on the other hand there are medications to help you deal with that pain and you just let them know when you're in pain and the nurse will give you pills or shots to get thru this pain and eventually it will or should go away!.

Once everything has stabilized (meaning you're in your bed a few days after the operation) then you could have books, in soe places a cellphone, but I'm not sure about a laptop!. By the time you can use a laptop you should be on your way home!. In addition I don't think you want to introduce new germs (from your laptop) or carry home germs (from your laptop) when you go home!.

Wearing gowns is only for the first few days and your parents will know when to bring your underwear!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

There are no guarantees but generally speaking the younger and healthier you are, the less risk from surgery!. You have to weigh the long term results of not having it done!. Do you want to live with chronic back pain for the next 70-80 years if you don't have it done!? Just make sure you are going to a reputable place with good doctors and you'll probably receive excellent care!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
