Answers:
Ask for a PCA (patient-controlled analgesia) pump!. It's much better for controlling post-operative pain in my opinion because you have the ability to administer the medication as soon as you need it, without having to wait to get a nurse to get it ready and get it administered!. Plus, you'll feel more in control of your own care!.

My only other advice is to cough/deep breath after surgery (or use an incentive spironmeter) as ordered by your doctor, nurse, or respiratory therapist!. Even if you don't feed good, this can help prevent common complications of pneumonia/atalectasis after surgery which can greatly increase your hospital time and healing course if it were to occur!.

Many things will be uncomfortable after surgery, but you have to do them for the best possible outcome!. Just know that hospital staff have your best interest in mind and aren't just trying to torture you!. And inversely, don't over do it either!. Make sure you get rest when you can!. It's just as important in the healing process!. Use the pain medication as you need it, that's why it's there to help accomplish a balance between these things!.

Good luck with your surgery!Www@Answer-Health@Com

Have no pointers!.!.!.!.but I do know it will all be worth it!. You will be like new after your surgery heals!. My son is getting it done also in the very near future!.!.he is in so much pain now!.!.!.he says he just knows he will be able to get off the table in surgery and walk to his room, because of the absence of pain!. Good luck!.!.!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

I don't have any pointers but I wish you the best of luck!. You're going to be fine and you'll feel soooo much better!. God bless and take care!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
