Before referring patients to Physical Therapists, doctors can give a drug called tPa to help start repairing the damage done to the brain!. Physical Therapists can begin by using their own hands to move the patient's arms and legs!. If communication between brain and limbs becomes well-enough re-established for the patient to move without manipulation, the PT uses exercises such as going up and down stairs, and walking for longer and longer level distances, to strengthen the muscles and rebuild coordination!. They like to get the muscle really exhausted during exercises so that it can regenerate more!. Some people complain that PT stands for "pain and torture!" Occupational Therapists, as well, help retrain arms and hands to do their jobs!.

Whatever the professionals do, the patient has ultimate responsibility for collaborating with them for his or her own healing!. My brother was a PT, and his motivational mode was to fall in love with his patients! And they reciprocated!. There wasn't any hanky-panky involved, but he helped them to achieve the most incredible recoveries!.

Beyond traditional therapies, hyperbaric oxygen therapy has been proven to promote healing in the brain, with resultant recovery of motion!. It works well if applied during the first few hours of the stroke, or even up to two years after that!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
