I'm concerned about the rising cost of private health cover in Australia.?!

Question: I'm concerned about the rising cost of private health cover in Australia!.!?
I'm 50 and have had private health insurance for the last 12 years!.

The one and only time I used my hospital cover was about a year ago when I had an endoscopy procedure performed on me at the Mount Hospital in Perth!. My first time in hospital!.

What amazed me is that Medicare paid the bulk of the total bill with HIFof WA paying a relatively small portion!. I paid around $300 from my own pocket!.

Which begs a question!. Why do I bother with private health cover when Medicare pick-up most of the total bill anyway!

Any thoughts!? Am I missing something!?Www@Answer-Health@Com

Even with the rising cost, I wouldn't be without private health cover - perhaps it's a pessimistic view, but the way I see it you never know what's around the corner!.

Almost ten years ago I developed CRPS, which is a chronic neuropathic pain condition!. Four years ago my condition deteriorated very badly - I've been in hospital seven times just in the last year as a result!. My medical costs over the last few years have come to around $80,000!. I've done all that under private cover (Medibank) and not had to pay a cent!. That's reason enough for anyone to have it, I think!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
