I just blacked out...?!

Question: I just blacked out!.!.!.!?
I was sitting on my couch playing video games (I had been playing for about an hour) then I stood up really quickly and all of a sudden my eyes started blackening and I felt really dizzy and next thing I know I was on the ground!. I had dropped everything I was holding!. I think the controller might have fallen on my head because now I have a slight headache and I feel a little nauseous!. I was only down for like 5-10 seconds then I recovered myself but I still felt a little dizzy!. Also, the memories of it and a few seconds before it actually happened are a little fuzzy!. Is this anything serious I should be worried about!? In the past, I have had similar experiences!. But these were the common thing where you stand up really quickly and you just get a little dizzy for like 2 seconds and that's it!. But I have never actually fallen down and fainted like this before!. What's going on!?Www@Answer-Health@Com

Answers:
Positional orthostatic hypotention!. That's fancy talk for positional low blood pressure!. It happens when your body can't keep up with your position!. Not uncommon at all!.

Your body needs to maintain a certain blood pressure to fight gravity to get blood to your brain!. No blood=no oxygen!. No oxygen=no brain function!. Your body has to fight the most gravity when you are standing!. The least when you are lying down!. When you change positions quickly, receptors in your body called barrow receptors detect the changes and constrict or relax blood vessels to maintain appropriate pressure!. Like a G suit pilots wear!. But sometimes you can catch your body by surprise and it can't react quick enough!. When you go down, gravity is a minimal problem and you come to relatively quickly!. The danger comes from colliding with things on the way down, like in your case!.

This is fairly common, especially in the elderly!. The best thing for it is to know you are susceptible to these kinds of situations and change positions a little slower!. If you are laying down, sit before you stand!. If you are sitting, stand slowly!. You don't need medication for this unless it continues to get worse, or if you may be at risk for injury in conjunction with other meds or some aspects of your work!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

ya, thats happened to me before!. I got up quickly and next thing i knew i was waking up on the ground!. I was worried so i went to the doctor and she said that there wasn't anything wrong with me but just next time i've been sitting or laying down for a while i should sit up and slowly stand up!. Also if you are starting to black out you should immediately just sit down where ever you are, just to be safe!.

But go to a doc if your concernedWww@Answer-Health@Com

From personal experiences, standing up too fast causes the blood to rush too quickly and you somtimes get dizzy or can't see!. I haven't fallen down before!. You might want to talk with a parent or doctor about that!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

i do this quite frequently!. it's just the rush of blood from your body when you stand!. careful! your fine tho!Www@Answer-Health@Com
