Oxycodone & Hydrocodone..........How are they different?!

Question: Oxycodone & Hydrocodone!.!.!.!.!.!.!.!.!.!.How are they different!?
they are similar, though, right!?Www@Answer-Health@Com

Answers:
Technically, oxycodone is a more potent pain reliever than hydrocodone, but it is really a matter of preference!. Many people claim that hydrocodone provides more euphoria and less sleepiness, allowing the user to enjoy the experience of not being in pain, whereas oxycodone puts them to sleep!.
On the other hand, many users of oxycodone will opt for nothing else to provide pain relief!. I believe the equivalencies are 20mg oxycodone = 30mg hydrocodone!. Oxycodone is usually considered stronger than morphine and hydrocodone "has an analgesic potency equal to or greater than that of oral morphine!." Intravenous morphine (the gold standard for pain relief) however, is much stronger than either of the two taken by mouth!.

And yes, they are very similar in both structure and mechanism of action!. They are both semi-synthetic opiates (narcotic pain relievers)!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Both are about same as far as pain reliever for mild to moderate pain!. Hydrocodone is schedule 3 and Percocet is schedule 2 just barely!. They have two different feelings and oxycodone is stronger MG for mg!. They are synthetic Narcotics where as codiene and Morphine are natural opiates!. hydrocodone only comes in combo with tylenol or ibrupropin!.Oxycodone comes as Tylox, percocet , oxycodone 5,10,15, and 30 mg's while also have 10,20,40!.80mg extended release tablets!. Oxy=oxygen and hydro=waterWww@Answer-Health@Com

Oxycodone is a more potent pain reliever than hydrocodone, and the euphoric effects of it are more potent as well!. I believe the ratio mg/mg, is about 1mg/!.5-!.75mg with hydrocodone being the latter!. Both are semi-synthetic opioids, however I believe the difference is that hydrocodone is derived from codeine and thebaine, and oxycodone is derived from only thebaine and is considered superior in pain relief to older pain management medications such as morphine, diacetylmorphine (heroin), and codeine!.

To clarify about someone else's post, morphine intravenously is the gold standard for pain, however, oxycodone's bioavailability orally is nearly twice the amount for morphine orally!. Basically, the ratio for all three is that morphine and hydrocodone are almost equally as potent!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

i agree with frankie S, as far as i know, and based on knowledge gained at my school, oxycontin is stronger than hydrocodone!. i had appendicitis, and i took hydro, and it definetly was not very strong, and i have heard reports of oxy being like heroin in a pill form!.!.!.!.!.i dont really know, but they are both opiates and produce the same effects and tolerance, but in different levels!. hydro is used for cough supressaning effects, while oxy is not!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
