Question: Narcotic pain relievers make me itch like crazy!. Any suggestions!?
Every time I need to take something for severe pain, I'm always prescribed Vicodin or Morphine!. But, these narcotics make me itch like crazy!. Even monkeys don't scratch as much as I do with these drugs!. I know many people who take these drugs and do fine with it!. How come I'm the only one who itches!? I've been told that I'm not allergic to these meds!. I would get demerol upon special permission in the hospital, but they have totally banned that drug, it was the only drug that didn't make me itch!. Is there any other option for me!?Www@Answer-Health@Com

I know a lot of people that itch on pain meds!. It's usually because the dose is too high!. I know for me it usually goes away after I have been taking it for a while!. If it is taking care of your pain, you have to weigh the pros and cons!. Tramadol or ultram are not as strong!. I am on tramadol and I don't itch at all, however it does not manage my pain as well!. This is just my experience and what I have been told by my Dr!. and pharmicist!. Your Dr!. knows your medical history!. Always consult them!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
You could try Dilaudid, but yeah, most hospitals have stopped using Demerol for a lot of reasons!. These are very common side effects!.!.!.and contrary to popular belief, benadryl will not fix an opiate itch because it is not an allergic (histamine) response!. You could also try percocet over vicodin!. But definitely let your MD know!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
stop taking the medicine right away and ask for a substitute to your doc!. some times you get allergic to a particular durg of the same composition !.you can change the manufacturer or the form of medication!.!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
This is a side effect of the drugs, you could take prendisone or get steroid shots from the doctor for this until you body adjust to it if it will, other wise your going to have to suffer!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

You should get rid of that junk and try natural solutions!. For example: marijuana is medical in 12 states now, you should try and see if cannabis is good for your condition!. I bet it is!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
When i take them i always itch real bad to, the doctor told me to keep putting lotion on, it dont work that well but it helps just a little!.

its pretty easy!. you are allergic to them!. Lots of people are, lots of people arent!. Morphine gives me a headache, a rash and I puke!.!.!.so your reaction aint bad
