Wrist injury from rugby?!

Question: Wrist injury from rugby!?
hi, about 3 hours ago i was playing rugby and landed on the ground on my hand, causing my wrist to be painful, then later in the game, i fell on it again and the pain got really bad!. i am a bit concerned as i fractured the same wrist about 4 years ago and i am unsure about what i have done to it!. i can move my wrist a bit, but it is quite painful, the wrist has swollen a bit and i have had sudden, sharp pains lasting about 5-10 seconds, with pain further up my arm near my elbow!. i think it is probably a bad sprain, but i don't know whether to see a doctor about it, incase it is fractured!. i am currently using 1 hand to type, hence the lack of capitals, lol!.

please advise me on what i should do!.
thanks,

Hello!. I have just given a similar answer as to what I am about to tell you!. Firstly, I am not a medical person and should this not help you, go see a doctor straightway because I would think you have a fracture somewhere about where your swelling is!.

Swelling is the body's way of bolstering up against a break to help keep the bone immobile!.
Don't try moving it just to see if it is still sore!.

Now, if you just have a sprain, I would expect that this will work in just half an hour!.

Get under your shower!. Let the warm water run over your sore limb!. Then turn the cold water off just a very little!. You will feel more heat!. Keep yourself under that until you are perfectly comfortable and turn the cold off a little more again!.

Keep on repeating that until you get the water to where it is hot but just tolerable!. After half or even sooner than half an hour your disability, if it is a sprain, may very well have disappeared completely and for good!.

However, if this becomes intolerable on your arm, discontinue immediately!. You must go see doctor or hospital!. I would think if it is a break it would be paining badly by now!. I hope that is not the case!.

If it is a break,I would think you will be putting up with a plaster for the next six weeks or so!. Make sure you ask for something from the doctor for relief of pain!. He will probably give you a prescription for Panadeine Forte!. Two tablets is the adult dose, to be taken when necessary, but not more than four times per day!.

Good luck, mate!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

sure way of telling if you have a broken wrist is to extend your fingers and lightly tap the tips!.If there is a shooting pain up your arm then I would say there is most definately a break or fracture!.That aside I think you should go and get it looked at in A&E!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
