Question: Was heroin supposed to be legal at one time!?
Since heroin is a pain killer and I take prescription pain killers whenever I have a migraine headache or something like that, I was wondering if they ever tried to see if heroin could be a legally prescribed drug, but it turned out to be too dangerous!?Www@Answer-Health@Com

Yes, it was legal in the US and even marketed as a cure for morphine addiction! Bayer sold it as an over-the-counter drug!. Here's an old advertisement for it as a "sedative for coughs:"

Heroin was indeed available as a pain killer, antitussive and cough suppressant!. I believe it was availble as late as 1910!.
Believe it or not, Cocaine is still available and has approved medical uses!. ENT surgeons use it sometimes to stop bleeding during surgery!. I've also seen Plastic Surgeons use it!.

I have heard as long as way back in the 1920's and before when they did not know about the serious impact heroin would be on people!. As along with opium and cocaine use!. Look it up once you'll find very interesting facts on the subject!Www@Answer-Health@Com
