first run it under cold water and then put it in a bucket or small container of cold water - it does nothing to the burns but takes the pain away which is what you need in the first instance!. if you start to feel pain again whilst it is in the water, change the water!. i have had a couple of bad burns and have at times had to sleep with a bucket of water at the side of the bed with my hand in it overnight with a couple of changes!. if it is still paining and you need to go out which i had to with one of mine i wrapped ice in a towel and held it to the burns or a cool brick or something similar!.

after the pain has gone just cover it with a light bandage to keep the air out!. if there are blisters don't touch them although i have heard (and done it) that if you thread some cotton thread through it with a sewing needle and cut the thread off close to the blister but leaving a bit out so that the fluid seeps out through it continually whereas if you just prick the blister and get the fluid out it seals itself and the blister continues on and on!. if you go down this track make absolutely sure that both the needle and cotton thread are thoroughly sterilized as infections are the worse thing you want!.

the worse part of burns in my opinion is the pain and if you can get that under control you can cope with it!.

you have my complete sympathy - i would hate to be badly burnt - have had some bad enough to end up in hospital for 3 weeks!.

whatever you do do not put greasy stuff on it, like butter or vaseline etc, a very old fashioned idea which tends to hold the heat etc in!.

be careful that the skin does not tighten up, keep moving the limb in a normal way to try and stop this!. after a day or so i was advised by a sports medicine specialist to put an antiseptic cream on the area to help with the healing and to moisturise the area again!. the one recommended to me was one called Bepanthen, which is for the treatment of nappy rash etc!. not sure if there is something similar in your country but a pharmacist/chemist should be able to check the net to find out its contents!. put out by Bayer!. it can be purchased over the counter!.

The air moving over your burn is what irritates it and causes any pain!. Run some water over it, but nothing too cold, please don't use ice you'll hurt yourself more!. Once it's dry, treat it with some antiseptic cream, then once that has soaked into the skin and dried put a bandaid over it or if it's too large an area for a bandaid use some cellophane until you can get something better!.

Remember to change your bandage daily, so it doesn't get infected!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

I always put Neosporin on my cooking burns!. There is one out that has a numbing agent in it that works great but the regular one works great too!. It takes the pain away almost instantly!. Cover it after applying the Neosporin ( I actually use the generic form and it's just called antibiotic ointment) and then you can still apply the ice packs to it!. You can apply them 20 minutes out of every hour until the pain subsides!. I hope this helps!.!.!.those little burns can hurt like heck!!!Www@Answer-Health@Com

You can take a pain med with ibuprophen in it!.!.that will ease the pain, but it sounds like you're doing everything you can do already!. Keeping your hand cold is a good idea!. Using cold water, ice, against metal!.!.!.whatever is the best thing to do!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Use Lanacane!. It's a spray that is for burns, cuts, itchiness and what not!. I burned my leg in a steam shower and it took the pain right away!. just make sure to keep it clean, it helps to put a bandage on it to keep out bacteria!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
