It really depends on where the doctor was trained. There was no actual "year". American born physicians often have a tendency to circumcise more often. Though there is no true medically necessary reason for it (barring repeated infections and inability to retract the foreskin), often fathers prefer their sons to "look like" them; even the boys of an age become self conscious of having an intact foreskin and prefer circumcision to look like their peers.

Working for urologists for 15 years who do not recommend circumcision as a matter of practice.



It is still done everyday. It is a parent's decision. And the recommendation is normally "How ever the father is, the son should be as well" My boys were born in the early 1980's and had I more Information at the time I would not allowed it done. All tho I myself had been circumcised as a baby.



it's NEVER been a necessity, it is a religious preference.
