Anyone here had tendinitis in their shoulder?!

Question: Anyone here had tendinitis in their shoulder?
What exactly does it feel like?
My shoulder has been hurting off and on for about 2 weeks. At the worst it feels like a spike in the front part of my shoulder with pain all the way down my arm into my palm. Heat seems to help it and keeping down at my side. If you've had it, what kind of treatment have you had done? I've heard cortisone shots help but they're very painful too.

Answers:

Generally speaking, tendinitis of the shoulder is more commonly known as a rotator cuff injury. Your rotator cuff is where all the bones align in the shoulder. The injury can be caused by almost anything, posture, lifting heavy weight improperly, even sleep. Cortisone does help greatly. However it only subdues the pain, it doesn't treat the injury. You need to go to some physical therapy. I know it can be expensive but just go once or a few times and learn all the exercises and then go home and do them yourself. I have a rotator cuff injury I let go untreated for 2 years, needless to say, I was stupid. I am now facing the fact the damage is so bad I need surgery, and am on pain meds till then. It might sound awesome to a druggy(not that you are) but in reality it sucks. Go see and orthopedist.

The one thing that is confusing me is that the pain your are describing down to your palm is unusual for a rotator cuff injury, generally the pain shoot across your collar bone or in the shoulder blade area. Could you have hyper extended your arm? That could easily be the cause of the pain. Anyways, I recommend looking online for rotator cuff injury exercises and do them if you refuse going to the doctor. If you let it go untreated it can loosen the tendons holding your collar bone together and make the bone literally pop out of place that causes extreme pain with any movement of the shoulder occurs. If there is popping sounds and pain you need to get to the doctor asap. Don't let it go untreated. Skip the general doctor/physician, go straight to the orthopedist, they will be able to diagnosis the problem very quickly. Best of luck!

Ice and Heat help, Ice to soothe pain, heat to loosen the joint for movement

I am a Pain Mgmt Therapist, Pre Med student, EMT, and I have a serious rotator cuff injury from a lifting accident.
