INGROWN TOENAILS- has anyone ever had the surgery to fix this? Did you get an in!

Question: INGROWN TOENAILS- has anyone ever had the surgery to fix this? Did you get an infection?
I need to know if what I am experiencing is normal. I had the surgery, removed both sides of the nail and cauterized the nail bed (left the middle part of nail intact) and it was not painful, nor for the next 3 days was there any problem, then all of a sudden my toe behind the nail became purple and started hurting like my toe was smashed or burnt.

Is this normal? Has anyone ever gotten a serious infection after this surgery and knows what it looks like. How about gangrene? What does gangrene look like when it starts?

I have been following my podiatrist's instructions completely. Soaking in Epson salts twice a day. Leave open to air most of the time, and bandage it if wearing a shoe. I have hardly worn a shoe at all.
I did walk a lot on it the day before all this happened, but the doctor's nurse told me I could do anything, walk, run, drive long distances....

Answers:

I had the surgery and had no problems. I actually had it twice. It wouldn't hurt to call the Dr. and tell them what's going on.

PERSONAL EXPERIENCE, I HAD IT DONE ON TWO TOES

Yes, in my case I could not removed the nail my self because of the pain so I had it surgically removed. To avoid any kind of infection like toenail fungus, observe proper hygiene and diet.
