Do I have a fever? (10 points)?!

Question: Do I have a fever? (10 points)?
Well, I've been running a 101 fever since last night. Earlier in the day it was 99. We went to the doctor and I have two viruses and a bacterial infection in my sinuses. Anyways, I've taken a Tylenol, and my temperature on the oral thermometer is 98.9. I understand that Tylenol reduces your fever, and Tylenol has been in my system since 3:30 today. It is now 7:15. My question is this: Do I have a fever? The doctor told me that I cannot return to school until I don't have a fever WITHOUT the help of Tylenol.

Hello,

101 is a fever. 99 is a low-grade fever. 98.9, is not a fever.

Fevers can vary depending on the persons normal body temp. If you are usually 96-97, then 99 is a low grade fever without a doubt. If you are usually 98, then 99 is kind of hard to tell if it is a low grade fever.

You need to go 24 hours with no medicine, once you get your temp. to stay at 98, you should be good to go. Hope you feel better.

You have asked the same question two different ways. Could it posssibly be that you are not serious? Hmmmmm I wonder if this is a direct result of children having too much unsupervised time at a computer.
