Should I still work out despite lower back pain?!

Question: Should I still work out despite lower back pain?
I did heavy deadlifts yesterday and I think I pulled a muscle around the right side on my lower back. I have pain in my lower back and can't stretch my hamstrings (it hurts when I do). And today I'm supposed to be working on my chest. Should I still go or rest?

Working out will undoubtedly aggravate the injury and so you would be wise to refrain from doing this until the problem has resolved. Try using ice on the painful area and stay gently mobile. If the pain does not subside, go and see your doctor or someone like a chiropractor.

Take a couple of days rest.

When muscles tighten and shorten, it causes even more muscle fibres than
are needed for good posture to also contract at the same time.

This means that these muscle fibres are working over-time and are
shortening the muscle, which in turn restricts the range of movement of that
muscle.

Also because the muscle is shorter it has to contract even more to
do the same amount of work as a relaxed, longer muscle. As a result of the muscle having to work even harder lactic acid builds up quicker in the muscle which causes muscle fatigue and pain.

The solution to this problem is simple! I have found some exercises for
lower back pain relief and they release the tension and reduce the pain.

That was really painful. It looks like a pinched nerve. An injured and compressed nerve causes the pain to occur. I think you need to relax and rest for a while. Its best wait at least a week before you work out again or until the back pain is gone. If the pain gets worse. Consult a health care professional for proper treatment and medication.

Some stretching can lessen your lower back pain. I do yoga and meditation when I have lower back pain. I also wear a posture brace to reduce lower back pain.

Definitely rest for a few days. Take ibuprofen for the pain. It is an anti inflammatory medicine that should help with the muscle pull. Also, soak in a hot bath for a while. Put on some Icy Hot about an hour after that and keep using Icy Hot until you have no more pain.

No. I would rest until it's recovered, you don't want to make it worse. My brother worked out once after hurting his back and couldn't move for weeks after.
