Is it strange that like to inhale cigarette smoke second hand?!

Question: Is it strange that like to inhale cigarette smoke second hand?
My parents smoke and have done so since I was six. They smoke in the house, car, etc. and I find myself inhaling the smoke by choice. Yet, my brother and other children of smokers hate the smell of cigarettes.

I'm not so addicted to cigarettes that I would ever go out and buy them and smoke them myself. When I'm isolated from the smell, I don't experience withdrawal symptoms or any real desire for the smell, I just like to inhale it when it's there.

Is this normal and does it increase the risk of me smoking in later life?

I don't think it is strange. You may connect the smell of the smoke with the comfort of being close to your parents, which may be partly why you like it. You are associating it with something pleasant.

There are two schools of though about second hand smoke and addictioin. One says that breathing second hand smoke does lead to addiction and another says that breathing second hand smoke surprisingly often does not lead to addiction. The theory is that most of the nicotine stays with the smoker.

I don't believe that it makes it more likely that you will be a smoker.
