There are no negative/ disadvantages of masturbation

Currently in a human sexuality class...my teacher wrote out entire textbook(Think: human sexuality)
we just talked about this

The positive aspects of masturbation are: it can be used to reduce stress and/or relieve sexual tension over thoughts you have about a person you are attracted to. It can be used to make you feel that euphoric rush that gives you a temporary high, improves your mood and makes you feel better; which is the effect of endorphins being released into your body via the hypothalamus and the pituitary gland. It is sexually arousing and fun to do in front of your girl friend or wife, some woman think it is a real turn on others don’t. If your sexual energy is keeping you up at night, you can use masturbation to relieve the tension or insomnia so you can sleep.

Now for the negative: it is addictive because of the endorphins i.e. neophinephrine and dopamine. These two endorphins are like adrenaline, which is also addictive. Awareness of this is essential to understanding what is going on. Too much masturbation for instance several times a day everyday or even once every day could be something else, like addiction to porn or sex or compulsion. Compulsive masturbation can cause problems with concentration and memory due to the brain being over drained of acetylcholine. The effects of to much masturbation "can also drain the motor nerves, neuro-muscular endings, and tissues of acetylcholine and replace it with too much stress adrenalin which is where memory loss, lack of concentration, and eye floaters come from" Too much of anything is too much.

In my own experience, I have to say I am addicted to masturbation and watching porn. I have experienced some of these things I have mentioned before such as floaters, lack of memory and concentration. In the past, I use to masturbate when I got home from school, then in the shower before bed or late at night when everyone else was asleep. I have had so much sexual energy that it has kept me up at night unless I have done something about it. One of the main things I regret about masturbation and doing it so much is that I have wasted so much of my time in life where as I could have been doing more important things in life such as: relationships, careers, schools etc.

So, to sum up everything, masturbation has both good and bad sides. In the end, moderation is best advised; don't do it everyday or several times a day. Several days a week I think is all right. But avoid the "pattern", many of us addicts get into this pattern of having to or wanting to masturbate as if it is part of our everyday life chores such washing dishes, making meals, getting dressed etc. Awareness of ones actions is vital, you can either go blindly through life repeating the same mistakes or you can become conscious of your actions and take control of them instead of the other way around.

I assume you mean Solitary Masturbation.
There are some negative possibilities to consider:
It can become addictive
It can detract from the mutual pleasure in a married couple
It could become a barrier between a married couple

The only disadvantages are when it become excessive or when you use it instead of the option of sex.
