Feeling extremely fatigued lately.?!

Question: Feeling extremely fatigued lately.?
Recently ever since I started school again (college), I've been feeling fatigued and drained on a consistent basis.
I've been taking far more naps than I normally did prior to this semester on top of my normal sleeping schedule which lasts 7-8 hours. Despite that, I still feel sluggish and out of energy.

Factors which might contribute:
-5' 7'', 125 pounds, 20 year old male.
-14 credit semester (not that much stress; I'm in class 3-4 hours a day and I don't have a job currently. Don't have social drama to worry about either)
-Go to the gym 3-4 times a week
-Diet isn't that great; personally I think it's the biggest factor. Being on a campus, most of my options are greasy, fatty foods, although I try and get greens and fruits in whenever I can.

I've been told by a few friends in premed that it might be a thyroid problem, but I wanted some other opinions on this before this problem escalates and starts cutting into my academics and whatnot. Thanks for replies in advance.

If you are getting this much sleep and still feeling exhausted, you could be in need of a sleep study to see what is happening when you are asleep. You can get tons of sleep, but if it is the wrong kind, and your brain does not reach certain levels of sleep, then you are going to be fatigued, extremely. There are a lot of sleep disorders that can occur, unknown to you, while you are asleep that keep you from reaching good levels of sleep. As was suggested, the thyroid will and should be the first thing that your doctor checks for, but your quality of sleep sounds like it needs some help. Maybe you need a inspiration boost. A change of environment for a short time. When things get too familiar it can cause fatigue or those feelings.
