How much pain should I expect after an anti inflammatory injection in my wrist? !
Question: How much pain should I expect after an anti inflammatory injection in my wrist? How long will...?
*****Before anyone asks, I put a call into the doc just now and I am waiting for a return call. *****
I went to the doc today because I had a painful ganglion cyst in my wrist. He injected it with some cocktail of anti inflammatory meds. About an hour ago (4-5 hours after the injection) it started hurting. Now I can't move it at all without excruciating pain. It is also very sensitive to touch. Is this normal?
I am looking for personal experience here. Please don't tell me to call my doc. Thank you for your help.

The pain is created by having this foreign substance in the joint. Even a small quantity such as this creates a pressure sensation and irritation by its presence...not where it belongs. But the benefit comes after it has absorbed and the inflammation reduces. I have had a shoulder injection. Initially it felt better because they use a local anesthetic mixed with the anti-inflammatory medication. But then it began to ache like a sun of a gun and you would almost think it had become worse. It wasn’t until 48-72 hours later that it really began to feel better.
