Lower back pain, should I still workout today?!

Question: Lower back pain, should I still workout today?
I did heavy deadlifts day before yesterday and I think I pulled a muscle around the right side on my lower back. I have pain in my lower back and can't stretch my right hamstrings (it hurts when I do) but my left leg is completely fine.
Today I'm supposed to be working on my chest. Should I still go or rest?

You need to REST...

DF, having worked with enough guys who lift they are going to do what they want not what they are told. So you are going to be the one that makes the final decision about this. The one thing that I can tell you is that if you are working your chest you should be able to do this but you are going to have to change the approach. The resistance factor is going to have to be lowered. If you have no problems with the back doing it with a lighter workout you may then increase it but keep in mind that stabilization for the chest is still done through the back. This is going to be more or less dependent upon form and how good you are in it.

Hi,

I am a physical therapist. Generally if someone is experiencing low back pain it would not be wise to work out. Try applying ice, minimize any activities that aggravate your symptoms and if pain continues, see a doctor.

go see a doctor. if its so bad that you cannot control the inflammation with over the counter pain relievers then you need to make sure its just a pull. i would still go because you are not working your legs and back again but i would go slow to make sure you did no further damage to you back

No you need to take a break, you just over did it, You have to do a workout on your chest you may as well call an ambulance before hand and call it a day!

See Chiropractor or osteopath
