Can you still get an epidural with an injury to your spine?!

Question: Can you still get an epidural with an injury to your spine?
I'm having my first child and it was recently brought to my attention that I may not be able to receive a epidural during labor due to past and current back problems. I broke my back at the L1 vertebrate 12 years ago when I was 15, also had moderate to severe muscle damage, and shattered my tail bone (sacrum). I currently still have pain from the injury not being properly treated and my doctors recently discovered a cyst on my spinal chord near the nerve cluster at the top of my lumbar as well. I want to know how these things can affect my pregnancy and labor, I have many concerns about it. Thank You

Answers:

This is a question best left to the doctors that are going to be doing the procedure. The point of entry for an epidural is at L-5. The effects of the cyst on the profusion of the medication is something that they would have experience in dealing with not someone on line.
