Is a head injury the same thing as a concussion?!

Question: Is a head injury the same thing as a concussion?
I had hit my head a couple days ago when I slipped on the ice. I was told I had a head injury, but some people have been asking me if I had a concussion since the symptoms I was having fit that of a concussion. I said I didn't know because all I was told by the doctor was that it was a head injury. Not thinking at that time, I forgot to ask the doctor that if a head injury was the same thing as a concussion. So is a head injury the same thing as a concussion or are they two different things?

There are all kinds of head injuries. Look concussion up under webmd.com

They are in the same category. If you did not lose consciousness or have prolonged dizziness, weakness in any extremity beyond a few seconds, no vomiting, no blurred vision things of that nature chances are you did not get a concussion. Especially when your Dr. said it was a head injury. Now let me clarify a little bit. All concussions are head injuries but not all head injuries are concussions. Example if you bang your head say on a sharp corner and you cut your scalp and you're bleeding, even though it is minor it is still a head injury but you cannot get a concussion without having a head injury usually serious.
I hope I have cleared the issue up for you.

No, because a bump on the head is considered a head injury. Have a friend (Or do it to yourself in a mirror) shine a light in one of your eyes, and if you pupil doesn't dilate then go back to the doctor because you might have a concussion. So no a concussion is not the same thing as a head injury.

Concussion is a head injury, but you could have say a cut, which is a head injury, and not concussion. Concussion involves your head being hit hard, or you hitting something hard. This may lead to loss of consciousness, or dizziness etc. If you have symptoms two days later, see a doctor

the old square and rectangle argument.

the rectangle is the concussion and the square is the head injury.

a concussion is a head injury, but a head injury is not necessarily a concussion.

A concussion is a specific type of head injury. It is a mild brain injury and it requires rest to heal.

From what I have heard and I may not be right a concussion is when the spinal chord goes into the brain?
