Why does it STILL hurt!?!

Question: Why does it STILL hurt!?
I had a boyfriend from October 17th to December 18th (the day before I left for a huge family vacation so I had to act happy the whole time) and I know thats not a long time but he was my first real boyfriend (we are both 14 and freshman in high school btw) and my first kiss (I was his first ever girlfriend and also his first kiss) and I thought I would be over him by now, I mean we only went out for 2 months, how long could I need to recover? But still, being within 10 feet of him makes me want to scream and cry and whenever any of my friends talk about him I just feel horrible and especially since Valentine's day is tomorrow I'm like dying. Neither of us has been in a relationship since then and I don't know if he likes anyone but I just feel horrible... And the way he dumped me had like little to no closure like he never actually said "I'm breaking up with you" or ANYTHING like that.

WHY do I still feel so heartbroken? And don't say anything like *This is why High School relationships are stupid* or anything like that because even though high school relationships may not be as serious our heartbreaks hurt just as much...

Answers:

That kind of stuff always feels horrible. It's almost like when someone when someone close to you dies.

But believe it or not, you do get over both of these. The best thing to do is keep your self busy with friends, other activities, work. Whatever. An idle mind will tend to wander back and obsess over things. Don't let it.

Beyond that, just like a physical wound, it simply takes time to heal. That's not something you want to hear at the beginning, but the pain will gradually fade and one day you'll look back on it and realize that the pain it caused is nothing more than a memory.

Been there, done that.

Oh, I'm a sophomore in highschool, and let me tell you, the many future break ups don't get any easier, but I know how bad the first one could hurt. Because I went through the exact same thing. He dumped me and I felt so hurt and crushed because that was my first "love" and I wanted it to last forever and for some reason, I was crazy enough to believe it would. I wanted to get revenge so bad, but I also wanted to get back together. Now, its a year and a half later and I'm doing fine. Don't worry, it didn't take that long to get over him. For me, it took about... 3-6 months honestly. I know it don't seem like it now, but things will get better. And soon, you will get over this break up. It just might take a little longer for some people. The best thing you can do now is surround yourself with friends and go crazy; putting your mind off him. Promise:)
Good luck!
