Answers:

I sprained my ankles badly several times and broke a s000load of bones in my lifetime. From what I can tell you probably sprained something in your ankle. If you have health insurance go to the doc just to make sure, if you don't or don't want to go or are like me, bandage it, make sure you immobilize it.

Give it at least a few weeks without stressing your ankle (yes this sucks). To require surgery you either have to have a serious tendon separation from the bone (in which case your ankle looks 3 times it's normal size and you can hear a nice pop when it happens), or you flatout snapped your bone, which is not the case either. If you have hairline fractures and other "smaller" damage to your bones all the doc will do is immobilize so it can heal.

So keep it still, and bandage to keep the swelling down and immobilize it for a few weeks. Good luck.

yeah i think you should go to the doctor if the pain doesnt leave !!
ps: you can cut an onion in two pieces and put it to your ankle for a while it takes away the pain a bit , you can also put some oil there and knead it that takes away the swelling !

Yes go to a DR!!!
Right now you can put some ice on it.
